Gaining Efficiency and Menu Accuracy

Client Type

National restaurant concept with 1500+ locations.

Challenge

With over 350 versions of franchise menus, this brand needed to enact both brand consistency and also comply to national, state and local regulatory guidelines. A major challenge for this many versions was how to allow each franchisee to efficiently choose menu items, enter pricing, and apply any specific version exceptions while maintaining an extremely low margin of error.

How We Solved

Trabon spent time with the client print production team to understand how their current menu ordering system workflow was able to gather information and version menus. In this discovery, Trabon was able to identify that many versions had consistent selections and pricing and most versioning was dependent on exceptions specific to certain locations (e.g. regional menu items and regulatory disclaimers).

Trabon was able to use our internal development team to create and apply store specific profiles in our MenuNet versioning system that can be applied to versions without creating additional steps for each franchise orderer.

For example, if a franchisee has three stores and they all share common items and pricing but each have a different disclaimer that needs to appear on one page- in the current system a user would have to fill in the same items and pricing in on their menu platform three separate times to build each menu version.

Outcome

With the MenuNet store profile solution, users can now build out the items and selections once for all three locations and the profile will apply the store specific exceptions and create the three versions that are needed. This allows franchisees to spend a fraction of the time building and proofing their menus. Because of this time savings, the client was able to reduce their ordering window, which saved over a week in their overall production timeline.
